A solar panelled roof generates electricity through the day, and a Tesla Powerwall battery stores it for the evening. Over a year the home generates as much clean energy as it uses.
Octopus Energy's Kraken platform manages the home automatically: charging the battery when energy is cheap, running the home from stored power at peak times, and exporting the surplus back to the grid when the grid needs it most.
That exported energy has real value, and it is how Octopus funds the guarantee: no home energy bills for at least 10 years. It comes with a generous fair use allowance of around twice a typical home's expected usage, with EV charging billed separately.

"Bills included" is the second most searched rental filter on Rightmove after "pet friendly". A home where the biggest household bill is guaranteed at zero stands out in any listing, in any market.
The typical household energy bill is £139 a month and rose 13% in a single quarter this year (Ofgem). A tenant who pays nothing for energy has a running reason to renew rather than move, and bill shock, a common cause of arrears and broken tenancies, is designed out.
Rental homes must reach EPC C by 2030 under confirmed government plans, and Rightmove estimates 2.9 million rentals need work to comply. An EPC A Zero Bills home is already a decade ahead, with no retrofit bills waiting down the line.
